Pickway Townhomes
This project explores contemporary three-story townhome design within a wooded residential context in Charlotte. Simple, modern forms are composed into a series of two-unit and three-unit buildings, creating variation in scale and rhythm while maintaining a clear and cohesive architectural identity across the site. Primary living spaces are elevated to the second level, increasing privacy, improving access to light, and strengthening visual connections to the surrounding tree canopy.
The site strategy is driven by walkability and bikeability, prioritizing human-scaled circulation and minimizing the dominance of the automobile. Buildings are arranged to support pedestrian movement, foster neighborhood interaction, and create a sense of community within a naturally rich setting. Together, the architecture and site design aim to balance density, livability, and a strong relationship between the built environment and the landscape.
